How to Bless Yourself.....?

Some 50 years ago I adopted the habit of going into a Church, kneeling down, and Blessing myself with the usual Sign of the Cross. I mean the right hand from forehead to mid-chest, then from the left shouder to the right shoulder.

But then with the closed right fist with thumb extended I made a small cross on my forehead, another small cross on my lips and finally a small cross over my heart. As I made these small crosses I whispered, " Come into my mind, into my words and into my heart".

I still see many do that. My Question is: From where does this come? I suspect it comes from Spain. Any information is welcome. I dont see that type of Blessing in the Northern States.:bounce:
 
Seen that in Portugal too -except there they make the ‘conventional’ Sign of the Cross again afterwards too

You are correct…I forgot to write that…yes we finish with a conventional sign of the cross. Then kiss the right thumb.
