How to deal with adding intentions during the course of novena?

Hello,

Let’s say I am doing a rosary novena (praying rosary for 9 days for a specific intention).
Let’s say I am on day 2 of the novena and I realized that I would like to add an intention to this existing novena.

Can I simply add the intention to the novena on the day 2, or do I have to start a new novena from day 1 with the added intention?

I am asking this because I am praying a novena which I would like to finish right on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Dec 12). I started the novena yesterday (Dec 4) and realized that I would like to add more intentions (not like I missed the prayer in day 1). But if I start a new novena for the added intention, the novena would end on Dec 13th, not Dec 12th the feast day…(((

Of course you can. Merits don’t need to be considered in a “legalistic” manner.

God knows that you wish you had thought of that intention on the first day, and you don’t lose anything by adding it now instead of then.
