I want to do animation for my career. I find it enjoyable and enjoy the challenge and pride that comes with knowing a skilled craft that was built over time.
However, I don’t think I have such a consuming passion for animating as some others do. I want God and family first before my career, and I could probably be happy with a different career choice.
I’ve looked at Social Work and feel like that is a lot less of a selfish career choice because it helps people and animating would just be mainly for my enjoyment, with a bit of enjoying entertaining and inspiring people. Social work takes more education, but seems to have better opportunities for hire.
Is it okay to choose a career simply because it’s something for me to enjoy?
