Through a long process of events, I now posses a spear head that I think may qualify as a reliquary/3rd class relic (I know, its weird). It once held 1st class relics and I believe they touched the spear directly, does this make the spear head a 3rd class relic now? I didn’t want the spearhead in the first place, but now I have it. What do I do with it? Is there a way I can I dispose of it? I’d feel kinda weird giving it to a Church considering its spear…

I am sure your parish priest - if he is at all masculine - would love to have a nice relic-spear in the rectory! Christmas is coming!

Spearhead?

But anyway, no, please don’t throw it… You can ask your local parish priest, please let him know about this matter because it could be a 3rd Class Relic. Consider giving it to a Catholic friend that would be glad to keep it for veneration. I would still consider it as a holy object because it’s a reliquary. But if you won’t find this easy, you can throw them away, it’s not a sin to do it but treat it with reverence and honor. You can dispose of the reliquary by burning or burying it.
Sacred objects, which are designated for divine worship by dedication or blessing, are to be treated reverently and are not to be employed for profane or inappropriate use even if they are owned by private persons. — Canon 1171
