Have you guys ever tried to do this? I had this pamphlet that said something about requesting local libraries to order different Catholic books, but since I lost that pamphlet I was just wondering how I would do so. I mean, I know that I could just call them and ask if that would be possible, but I guess I’m just looking for some affirmation.

Maybe you can find a way for used Catholic books to be donated to your local library. Maybe something like Amazon or ebay can sell real cheap books to be given to your library.

I have donated Catholic books, I borrow Catholic books. I have not yet done so but our library system has a way to formally request titles. I also know several librarians at our local library and chat with them about materials. They know I’m dedicated as a borrower and my children and I already do some of their programming, so I’m not just somebody dropping something in their laps. There’s a prior connection there. 🙂

Libraries have a system for people to recommend books for purchase. The next time you’re there, talk with the librarian to find out what you need to do. There’s most likely a form to fill out with info about the book you want. You might also ask what the procedure is for donating books if that is what you want to do. You want to make sure that books you donate are ones the library will add to the collection rather than the recycling bin or sale shelf.

have you looked into your diocese offices? Our seminary has a library that is open to the public with loads of Catholic books.
