I’m just borrowing this account to ask this

I’m 14 and I was baptised Roman Catholic (due to catholic grandparents) but never did my first communion or confirmation as my parents aren’t religious.
However about half a year ago I found Him and (sorry it sounds a bit cringe) it felt like a piece of me was missing but when I found Him I was complete and it felt great!
However I feel like I’ve lost him since a couple of weeks ago as I don’t feel His presence like I did before and, well basically how do I find Him again?

I do pray and I ask Him to show himself. I go to mass when I can as my parents doesn’t know about this and so I have to sneak off.

But how do I find Him? I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. Sorry if I sound like some stupid child who is some fake convert or whatever, I’m not - it was nice to meet Him.

God is everywhere, he is in that beautiful flower or the sparkle in your puppy’s eye. He is in the rocks and the wind and the air.

“Feelings” are emotions. They can lie to us.

I will imagine there are some moments when you don’t feel like you love your parents or your siblings or your best friend. That does not change the fact that you do love them.

Same thing for God. He is always there.

Simply pray and say “I believe and love you in spite of what I feel”.

Know that we can not encourage an under age person to disobey their parents.

Obedience to parents is a commandment of God (unless they are commanding you to do something immoral).

If they do not want you to go to Mass, you are not sinning by missing mass while you are under legal age. Perhaps your grandparents can have you to visit them on Sunday so you can go to Mass with them?

Pray, pray, pray! Ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance. As others have said, Adoration.

God is there all the time. When you don’t feel his presence, it’s because he wants you to know he’s still there even when you’re not getting warm fuzzy feels. It’s sort of Advanced God awareness training.

To echo what has been said…

You do need to obey your parents. If you can get to Adoration, do it. Maybe the first or second or third time you go, you will still not seem to find Him. But eventually, you will find that He is there, like that small, still voice, gently drawing you nearer and nearer to Him.

God bless,

But how do I find Him?
Option 1: Any Mortal Sins?
If you are committing any mortal sins, then reconcile with God through your confessor.

Option 2: Any Holy Sacrifices?
If you are NOT offering any sacrifices in union with Christ crucified (patience and kindness), then ask God for potential offerings, confess what you feel called to sacrifice with your confessor, and trust his advice.

Option 3: Resolve Divine Questions
Such as: Considering God, as the Creator of everything, what is the greatest creation possible for the person(s) who creates everything?
What is the logical means to fulfill that creation?
If your resolutions are not in alignment with Catholic Dogmas and Creeds, trust that your resolutions are incomplete, and you need to dig deeper in theology.

Option 4: If you are doing all of those, then you can trust that Jesus is with you, especially when you do not sense his presence. Furthermore, times that your are holy, yet do not sense his presence, he is not only with you, your holiness is making tremendous gains for the kingdom of heaven.

It’s not like they’ve said ‘don’t go to mass’. I tell them I’ve gone to the library or to the shops which I do go afterwards if I need to so not technically lying. But I don’t go to church every week. I do get your point though :))

A Priest told me that you dont have to feel God. You mus know his presence. If you hsve emotional struggles go see a professional in this field. If you have spiritual struggles go see a professional in this field.
Read chapter 1 in book 3 of Imitation of Christ.

Once God is in a person’s life, He has promised that he will never leave us or forsake us. God’s promises are always true and reliable. As others have said, we can’t rely on our emotions. That’s where faith comes in. God strengthens our faith by allowing us to “feel” like he is sometimes far away. But he never is far away…He remains always inside of you. Continue to thank him and to praise him, even in adversity. And don’t worry, he is always with you.

Thanks you!
(btw I’m not a man but thanks anyway for your message 🙂 )
