I have recently returned to the Catholic Church and I would like to become involved in the parish. Any advice as to how to get “connected” in the parish.

volunteer to help with religious education classes for children and youth, with youth group, or as a sponsor for RCIA. I guarantee the DRE will bend down and kiss your feet (in this parish, anyhow). best way in the world to learn more about your faith, too. a great way to get started without a huge commitment is aide for Vacation Bible School

welcome home.

Find out from the church bulletin or give a call to the church office to find out what groups the parish has, i.e. small church community, Bible study group, Evangelization Commission, Litergical Commission, Faith Formation, RCIA, Eucharist Adoration, Rosary group, Divine Mercy group, Youth Ministry, Mom’s group, Knight of Columbus, single’s group, young adult group, etc.

See which one will interest you and contact the group leader, see how you may participate. The best way to know other parishioneers is to join a group, or groups, work and serve with them together.

God bless!

Just be careful – parish organizations know a good recruit when they see one, and, in enthusiasm, it is very easy to take on too much, too soon . . . and burn out too quickly.

Know your talents and share them! They will be welcomed, I’m sure.

Many parishes have small faith-sharing groups. People pray together and get recruited to help out at parish functions.

If you’re a guy, check out the Knights of Columbus.

Joining the choir is a guaranteed social life (maybe more than you WANT!).

Hi “Agent” 👋 Welcome Home! You might try scanning your parish bulletin. Our bulletin is always chock full of weekly and upcoming parish activities… as well as contact numbers for a variety of parish ministries. Hope this helps. God bless! 🙂
