I have been thinking, god must have had sexual relations with some form of godess maybe, because if he just made jesus, then technically he isnt his son,he is as much son as me or you?
I know this sounds blashpemous but i cant help wondering!
Any thoughts?

No. He impregnated Mary through the Holy Spirit, he did not have sexual relations with her. Remember God controls the creation of life. He can do anything that he wishes. Causing the ovum in a woman to split and divide and create a baby is not beyond him.🙂

I would like to remind anyone that answers the posts to please remember that the OP is only 17(I read his profile before I responded). It might seem that this question is either silly or sacriligious to us adults but we should still be charitable.

Also, there is no such thing as a goddess. Remember the first of the ten commandments the Lord your God is one. There is no other god or goddess in existence.

Also, God is neither male, nor female. We describe Him as male because that is the analogy He used do describe Himself in the Bible.

The role of a father is to generate life, that of a mother to bear and bring forth the new life.

God can not change. The Father has always generated his Son. When the Son became man, then Mary, Jesus’ earthly mother bore him.

God is pure Spirit (having no body) so he doesn’t have sexual relations. The Son of God (i.e., God the Son) is generated eternally–begotten–by the Father–simply by God knowing Himself.

God the Son, while remaining God, took on a human form within the womb of Mary without any sexual relations taking place.

Or, as St. John puts it:

In the beginning was the Word,
And the Word was with God
And the Word was God.

godsent, my reply to your question may seem trite however it’s the only way I can help to explain the answer. In truth, we really cannot answer the question fully - it’s a mystery in the truest sense of the word - something beyond our human capability to comprehend. We do know there wasn’t a physical sexual activity between the Father and Mary - which makes the Incarnation unique when compared to other beliefs at the time. For me, and I hope this helps, the more important question is not so much the “How” (how was Jesus conceived) rather the Why - why was it necessary for God to take on our human nature and become a Man?

God is Jesus just as God is CONSECRATED BREAD. Just as God is CONSECRATED WINE Sometimes, people receive the CONSECRATED BREAD and THE CONSECRATED BREAD BECOMES HUMAN HEART MUSCLE. TO GOD, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! Sometimes CONSECRATED WINE TURNS INTO HUMAN BLOOD. THAT HUMAN HEART MUSCLE IN CONSECRATED BREAD, THAT HUMAN BLOOD IN CONSECRATED WINE, THAT IS JESUS!!!

You think God cannot do these?

Don’t mean to annoy or hijack the topic…but ‘Jesus is God’ and ‘Jesus is Consecrated Bread’ arent the same thing. Jesus is God. That is his substance. Jesus in the Eucharist is God but merely has the appearance (species) of bread and wine.

Back on topic…Jesus was always the Son of God, the eternal Word expressing perfectly the infinite knowledge the Father has (and is)of his infinite perfections. “In the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1) comes even before “In the beginning [of time] God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) Wild, huh?

At the fullness of time in history, the Son took on a human nature to enter earth. Physically, he entered the world in the womb of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thus Mary is the Mother of God. This is accounted in Luke, and echoed in the Church’s prayer, the Angelus: “and she conceived by the Holy Spirit.”

Not sure what else to add here…not a theology major…but I hope I added a little bit to the already excellent canon of replies.

Peace of Christ.

I wrote it that way because the Catholic Church teaches that each Particle of the Consecrated Bread is the ENTIRE JESUS, BODY, BLOOD, SOUL, DIVINITY

Right. Good to see that we dont really disagree then.
I’m off to the chapel right now, as a matter of fact…
Peace of Christ
