Hi all! Lately, I’ve been praying for a lot of things and for a lot of people, so much so that it’s become hard to keep track of things in a single prayer. I have a pretty good memory, so I hope I don’t forget anything, but I’m afraid that at the rate it’s increasing, I may forget certain things unintentionally. So I wanted to ask, how do you keep track of the things that you pray for?

Thanks in advance!

Some people write down their intentions and place them in a prayer journal, basket, bible, or whatever. Then it is a simple matter to say, “I pray for all those intentions in my (x), and in particular those you are bringing to my mind, Father, that are most in need of prayer.”

I read of the practice of dating the intention and praying it through until it is answered, though I have not done it personally.

There is another prayer I say, “for all those who have asked for my prayers and for whom I promised to pray.” God knows who they are, and we won’t leave anyone out of our intention in this way. 😉

Hi Catechumen…I used to keep my intentions in a book, and it did get terribly lengthy indeed but I could not feel comfortable unless I mentioned every intention individually.
Then quite some time back I found that after putting myself in the Presence of God and sitting quietly various intentions would come into my mind and I would pray for them…and then when stillness and silence returned, I pray as Joysong has mentioned: for all who have asked for my prayers, to whom I have promised them and for all who may need them. I can feel entirely comfortable with this, for as Joysong mentioned, God knows every little thing in our hearts, even the things we do not, and He will not forget any intention there.
Nowadays I can rest peacefully in the latter method of praying for my intentions…altho it took me a fairly long while to arrive there. God knows the intentions of our hearts, and whatever works for a person is the way to go…whatever one feels comfortable and at Peace with.

Blessings - Barb:)
