Sometimes some people can be so on fire for God and living for Him, His church, and excited for prayer, Mass etc… but when life drowns people with worldly problems and worries like, job, school, marriage, finances and such… How can we inspire them to re-ignite that fire or at lest point them back in the direction to get back on fire?

In my own personal experience, that means I need a break— a day off, just to go off to my fave shrine and renew.

Other people have other techniques

I’d ask for their story of their journey to faith. Ask them to recall the reasons why they grew to love God, occurrences, inspirations they can remember, perhaps teachers of various kinds such as parents or priests. And try to rekindle the fire.

Of course prayer too, and a reminder that all is till as it was as far as their faith is concerned, The persons feelings may have altered but the Truth is unchanging.

It might be a good idea to keep a special spiritual journal to keep notes of inspirational thoughts or readings or homilies or events etc, so that in the future they can remind us of our journey, like a grain store used when there is famine.

I start with the homeless. I keep a list of resources and places they need to go in case I run into them holding a sign for help. When they get into my car I know my heart is on fire for god. I know how to:
  • Get them food stamps
  • Get them a free phone
  • Pre-screen them for military recruiters
  • Locate the nearest homeless shelter
  • Keep track of local places hiring
All this ground work reminds me to do for the least of those, and appreciate what I have.

Doing HIS work keeps me strong. I’m blessed to be a strong man who can’t be afraid of death while helping one of his flock. Amen.
