I posted another thread about a patron saint for gaining weight somewhere on here…I have been under a whole bucketload of stress, and im certain it may be a factor in my weight loss (which I am at a very unhealthy weight now) but it’s not something I can get rid of easily since I’m still living at home and I’m still in high school. Any suggestions on how to relax?

Are you able to get out and walk often?Im trying to go for a walk/jog each day,and I really look forward to in now.I say some rosary then and come back relaxed.

Eat right, get a solid 8 hours of sleep every night, exercise, pray daily.

Go to adoration.

See a therapist and do what they tell you to do.

Sew.

Exercise.

I like to look at dishes.

Go to the dog park.

Bicycle, bring picnic & drink in a backpack, and don’t come home for as long as possible.

Forget your watch.

Go up to someone you don’t know that well and say “Here I am.” It’s a good ice-breaker and it’s fun.

Stress is our companion in life. Stress can work in several ways. It can make us desire to achieve or go in an opposite direction. It is how we handle stress that is important. Everyone I know has some type of stress. Not everything works for everyone. Therapy will help you find the root of your stress and aid of eliminating or handling whatever is the cause.
It is hard to give advice via Internet as to what makes you uncomfortable in your own skin. Not very many experts here to guide you, but there is some good advice/tips herein.
If you can not afford therapy, perhaps speak to your priest about anything that may be causing the stress. At the age of 18 it is not abnormal to feel some stress. PM me if you wish and maybe we can talk about it. Peace.

Sleep is very important. In our world, so many of us are sleep deprived. Make sleep a priority.

Scripture talks about anxiety, I love to read Christ’s words about the lilies of the field and the sparrows. He said “let not your hearts be troubled”. While some folks have a medical or mental illness that can be treated by a medical professional, for most of us, we can with the help of the Holy Spirit, take control of our stress.

Last, for me, 4 lents ago I gave up all “news”, cable channels, talk radio, etc. I would get the local weather reports and read Vatican News http://www.vaticannews.va/en.html. The way that the stress went away (following the withdrawal because I was a news junkie from the time I was a kid) was amazing. After a couple of years, I added back some sources, but, I still know when to unplug from that 24X7 font of anxiety. You may find some similar thing in your life.

This is interesting as I believe that news and social media and TV 24/7 is and are the main driver for violence, the decline of culture norms, society and morality. Just thinking. Peace.

Read the Bible. That and praying are the best stress relievers. Go to Mass more often. Spend time in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. All that time with Jesus will help you relax.
