Hi,

My beloved Saint John Marie Baptiste Vianney/Cure D’Ars said we should say the beautiful prayer of King David…Lord, give me the grace to know myself as I really am,so that I may see what displeases Thee, and how to correct it,repent, and obtain pardon.

I say this prayer daily and believe me it will change you and instead of you judging people daily you will know yourself, see what displeases God and learn to correct it,repent and I do believe you will obtain pardon.

I’m just for the first time in my life reading C.S. Lewis’ “Screwtape Letters” and it’s so interesting the discussion about how we can see everyone else’s flaws SO CLEARLY, yet are gleefully ignorant about even the most obvious of ours.

So thanks for the prayer, which helps us ask for help recognizing the shortcomings in our own character.

Cheers,
Cari

I have found that whatever glaring flaws I notice in someone else I can also find in myself. If I’m having trouble with an examination of conscience, I ask myself what’s bothering me about other people, and I get great insights into my own sins.
