Does anyone know how to print/save a CAF thread? I tried PDF, but the disclaimer bar blocks 1-2 lines of text.

Wayback machine only saves one page at a time, which is very tedious, and may be impossible.

@MarysLurker, do you know?

Add /print to the end of the URL.

This seems to be heavily limited (you can print just a few threads before you’re forced to wait and try again later) but is handy for printing a few large threads which you wanted to save for posterity.

Add /print to the end of the URL.
That’s great! I tried printing (to a pdf file) a long thread and it only did the first 1000 posts, but that would cover most threads. (I wrote my script to handle the current 10K limit.)

I tried that, but it still leaves out a line or two at the bottom of most pages. I’m using “control P” and then “print to pdf”.

When you did /print it kept all the lines at the bottom, or were they blocked out by the disclaimer banner?

I am seeing the same problem. I have found a workaround.

When you receive the long web page for printing, see if you can cancel the print job and then save the web page using your browser’s “Save Page” or similar function. When I do this, it saves an html file and a folder containing all the images.

Then, if I wish, I can open that html file in the browser and print to pdf. The disclaimer appears only once, and its position seems to depend on where I had scrolled to, so perhaps the disclaimer can be moved to a harmless place.

What web browser are you using? I tried printing this thread with Safari and it worked just fine.

You might also try using Google Chrome. Let us know if that works for you!

Google Chrome works the best, and the disclaimer blocks less if the page length is “transcript”.
