I am a new Catholic and have only been receiving communion since Easter. Our RCIA teachers helped us practice on receiving both the body and blood of Christ. My question is one of logistics. After I receive the body, there isn’t enough time to finish it before receiving the precious blood. I know we are not supposed to return to our seats with the host still in our hands, but should I simply put the body host in my mouth, receive the precious blood and then chew the precious body? it seems wrong to only partially chew the body before receiving the second host, but that is what I have been doing.
I’m sorry if I am using inappropriate language here. I just want to be sure I’m doing everything correctly when I receive communion. I’ve watched our pastor who seems to chew very quickly after receiving the precious body, but I’ve been unable to do it that quickly.
Thanks for any help you can give.
