I worked a late shift at work and towards the end one of my co-workers began joking and including me in sexual humor. Knowing the way I am, he came to me later and apologized saying he hoped he didn’t offend me. I told him ‘no’ and ‘don’t worry about it’ but I often struggle with the best way to reply to such an apology. I wanted to assure him that I was not angry with him but at the same time I did not want him to think that I approved of his choice of humor.
The same goes for one someone who curses in front of you and then says ‘excuse my language’. I don’t want to say ‘it’s okay.’ But I don’t want to ignore the person and have him think I was so highly insulted either.
Any thoughts?
