Hey all, I am currently in RCIA, but would like to start being active in Parish life. I am a martial arts teacher and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I could use that to help out the Parish. I know they don’t really go together, but it’s one of my gifts and I would like to find a way to use it for the Church. Thanks for any advice!

Maybe you could talk to your pastor and your students and arrange a children’s martial arts show to raise money for your parish. May God bless you, and congratulations on your decision to come into the Catholic Church!

Lord God, bless and protect Jesse in his movement to become one of Your faithful here on earth. Send Your Holy Spirit down upon him and guide him along the right paths to Your heavenly glory.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on him.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for him.

Amen.

That’s a great thought actually! Might I suggest that you talk with your parish priest and other members of your Church for ideas on maybe starting a class for members? I’m sure you might be able to rent out a space for weekly classes.

First off welcome to The Catholic Church :):):). Maybe you could give self defense classes that way people will know how to defend themselves. Or use your God given talents to help raise money for the parish.

Those are great ideas and thank you so much for the warm welcome! I just was not sure if I should wait until after Easter and just how I could set it up that the money would go to the parish, or how to best use this to serve the Lord.

I think it’s great.

I’m helping quite a bit with our moms group and I haven’t gotten through RCIA yet.

👍

If your parish has a “Community Life” ministry, your talent can fall very well under that. You can offer a self defence class for the parishioners. Don’t have to wait until after Easter. It takes some time for an idea to be implemented. You can talk to your Pastor first and he will point you to the right direction.
