How do I spread the Divine Mercy to others?

Where I live in England, there are no groups that do this.

How do I even start?

Should I start at work? People have already got their own opinion of me.

Thanks.

Hi Nelka 🙂

I think it’s wonderful that you want to spread devotion to the Divine Mercy.

Here are a couple of ideas for you, courtesy of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, who are entrusted with spreading the Divine Mercy message:

Divine Mercy Cenacles (what are they?): thedivinemercy.org/eadm/cenacle/index.php

Starting a Cenacle: thedivinemercy.org/eadm/cenacle/cenacleinfo.php

There is only one Cenacle group in England, although there are a total of three in the UK. I’m sure that these groups could also give you help and advice in starting your own Cenacle, if you feel called to do this: thedivinemercy.org/eadm/cenacle/cenaclelist.php?country=United%20Kingdom

Here is a feature story on the Cenacles: thedivinemercy.org/news/story.php?NID=3421&PLID=73

And here is a couple who will bring a multi-media presentation to parishes & schools. Joan and Dave Maroney, the Mother of Mercy Messengers: thedivinemercy.org/momm/about.php

hardly, work is not the place or time for private devotions even those prayed in a group setting.

check your diocesan website for links to parishes that do come together for this devotion, there are probably more than you think. If there are parishes that cater to Polish immigrants that is also a good place to start, that is how I first learned of it long before it became more widely known and observed.

It’s probably not as rare as you think, as someone has already said. Our parish has a group I believe, and we are not Polish.

Are you anywhere near Liverpool? PM me and perhaps I can put you in touch, if so, although I am not a member.

It’s so nice to hear that you want to do this. I’m also in England and wouldn’t know how to do this either. All I’ve done is given my mum a copy of her diary. Where in England are you?

I’d imagine that starting a group would be the same as for any other - arrange a time and evnue for a first meeting, and advertise it on your parish bulletin and/or a poster in the porch, and see who turns up and whether the arrangements suit them.

Our group makes sure that there are always leaflets on the table in the porch explaining the Novena and the devotion, on which they write details of the regular meetings, but, of course you’d have to get your parish priest’s permission to leave them.

They get their leaflets from Divine Mercy Publications, Maryville, Skerries, County Dublin, Ireland, email info@divinemercy.org.

You could also ask your priest if you could leave these leaflets out: cenacle.co.uk/products.asp?recnumber=2166

They’re £2.75 for a back of 10. I’ve bought a few things from Cenacle before and they are good.

Or you get copies of a newsletter-type thing, summarising the Divine Mercy. I read one once and that was what brought me back to the Catholic Church.

You can get copies by contacting:

Our Blessed Lady’s Press
St. Michael 2 Beverly Close,
Fforesthall, Swansea,
SA5 5DS UK.

They’re free, but ‘Donations urgently needed’. I really recommend you get copies of this. It mentions a miracle, proving that the devotion is genuine. On the front and middel it lists the highlights of the diary and on the back, it gives instructions for the novena. It is also what saved my faith 😃

Just do add, on the front it has an image of the Divine Mercy painting, so when readers learn that Christ wants people to have this up in their homes, they will be able to leave the newsletter standing somewhere.
