My mom is having cancer-related surgery tomorrow. She’s extremely faithful and while she has an exceptional attitude about it all, she’s sad to miss Holy Week in church. Any suggestions for something I can send her to keep her close to this week, Christ’s passion, and what she will miss at church? I know it will break her heart to miss Holy Thursday, specifically, though she is determined to offer up her experience with and for Christ.

Watch the liturgies on EWTN and arrange for the Anointing of the Sick and Communion to be brought to the hospital, if possible

Call the parish office and have an Extraordinary Minister to the Homebound and Sick come to the hospital to bring her communion. Best thing you can do for her. If the priest is not available perhaps one of the Deacons will visit.

If she can swallow, she can receive Communion in the hospital (if it can be arranged).

Missing the Holy Week mass and service is sad but she can pray (maybe Rosary) and read /reflect on the readings for the day.

God bless.
