What are some different methods for studying the CCC more in depth?

Also for people who might not be intellectually able to read the CCC easily is there a simpler book like a sparknotes that states in clear language what the CCC says?

Finally, how should small children be taught the CCC and how?

Please help me here.

The CCC can be a bit of a tough read (but worth it)

Have you tried “Catholicism for Dummies”, horrible name, great book (as a first start).

Then there is the “Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church” - just the bare bones.

Start a small child with a kid’s Bible - get them interested in God’s stories first. Get one they can read on their own (if possible). Start by reading it to them. End up by letting them read it to you!

Fundamentals of the Faith, by Peter Kreeft is good.

Catholic and christian by Alan Schreck is also good.

How much background do you have?

For me I found it helpful to read the Catechism of Trent alongside the new CCC.

Now I am going through the CCC with a priest who is well versed in it. And that is quite helpful.

Usually, what has been suggested to me is to start off with a topic that interests you. There’s plenty of commentary notes in the bottom of each page.

I would recommend the Catechism for Dummies, it was most informative.

Might want to check out the United States Catechism for Adults. There is a study guide that goes with it. Also the Why Catholic series [study guides too] are modeled after the CCC.

As for teaching children, I would call down to your local CCD person at your parish and ask for ideas.

God bless.
