Hello,
I’m brand new here and just starting out the RCIA process and don’t know many people in my parish or yet have a sponsor. So some of my questions might seem basic but I do try to do searches and find the info on previous threads first. There are several shrines to Mary in my area and I was wondering what to do when I visit them. I see some people have left a rosary or coins. Why would they leave a rosary? Do I pray, if so is there a certain prayer or type of prayer? Should I visit only if I have a certain intention? Should I kneel, sit, stand?

You don’t have to go just because everybody else does.

Have you tried looking up a dictionary? e.g.
“A shrine (Latin: scrinium “case or chest for books or papers”; Old French: escrin “box or case”) is a holy or sacred place, which is dedicated to a specific deity, ancestor, hero, martyr, saint, daemon, or similar figure of awe and respect, at which they are venerated or worshipped.”
So the bold stuff looks intrinsic to going there while rosary’s and coins or pilgrimaging on your knees is purely optional and however the spirit takes you.
