A very general question. As far as defending our values (Pro-Life, defending traditional marriage, etc.) Do any of you think we have lost by making religion too central in the debate? What I mean is, when I debate gay marriage, homosexuality or abortion with my liberal friends, they seem to think that the only reason I hold the views I do is because of my religion. When I point out non-religious logical, moral or scientific reasons for my views, they seem to consider them more seriously. I’m not saying we should ignore the religious aspect, but maybe we should emphasize the rational and scientific side of our arguments. Please let me know what you think.
