Hi everyone. How would a person evangelize an Agnostic Theist? An Agnostic Theist is a person who doesn’t know for sure that God exists but they hope that God exists. How does one evangelize such a person? 🤷

If they’re up to reading, there’s the book “A Case for Christ” and I think there is also one called “A Case for God”. I thought the Case for Christ was very helpful with the few doubts I had, Good Luck

Thank you for the suggestion Zeebee. I am just wondering, are these books anti-Catholic in any way?

Part of the way we witness is our daily walk. If we walk with grace and treat others with the love Christ had, it will be apparent.

We shall be known by our fruit.

I agree. I like what St. Francis of Assisi said:

(Paraphrasing) “Preach the Gospel at all times and use words when necessary.” 👍

Holly,

Where is this person in life? Share more about what they think and do. This might help generate more ideas.

I have not met a lot of agnostices or atheists in my life.

God bless you for your concern for this person.

Well everyone, I just asked him last night if he believes that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day and he says that he does believe this. 😃 I guess he is a Christian now though not a Catholic. 😉

That is good news.

Listening to this person is a good way to witness to them. It shows them that your concern is genuine.

A favorite gesture of St. Kolbe was to give people a Miraculous Medal. Do you have a Catholic store nearby?

God bless

There’s not a Catholic store nearby but there is one within driving distance. I will see about getting a miraculous medal for him. But what good would it do if he doesn’t wear it?

Jesus told us how to do this!!!

Matthew, chapter 5 starting at vs 13 (bold mine):

"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. "

:amen: Good post! 👍

You evangelize through mercy: firstly by deeds, secondly by words, thirdly by prayers.

This is where I fail as a Catholic. I don’t evangelize outrightly. I try to do so through example only. If someone chooses not to believe, that’s their choice. The consequences they face are theirs alone, and are, of course, mostly negative.

You don’t. It’s completely up to them, really.

I personally find that the right Agnostics some of the best people I’ve ever had the honor of meeting. 🙂 They can be very insightful, and, for that, I would never consider taking such a precious gift from them unless they ask for it. :o
