When you ask God a question, or for a reason why something is the way that it is in your life, do you take what you read in the scriptures as your answer? Do you accept it as written or do you use it as a prod to think in a certain direction?

I’ve done both. For example, the last time I was at Adoration I was really thinking about my future. I’m really getting the feeling that change is coming this spring. I don’t understand it, but I’m getting excited (wierd, huh) and a little nervous. I’m kneeling and praying over this. When I go sit down, I open up the Imitation of Christ and the first thing that pops out at me is a section about trusting God. I really wish I could remember the quote off-hand, but I can’t. It absolutely hit home with me.

Other times, I’ve opened up the Bible and gotten what I think of as hints, directions to look at. I guess it all depends on what God’s trying to get across to me!

I was a bit distracted today during the Gospel message at Mass today. A paper candle wax catcher caught fire! That blew my mind…doesn’t take much to do that 😃 .**

That reminds me of the saying that if you blow in my ear, you can de-rail my train of thought! 🙂

Through scripture, God speaks to us. Everything there pertains to our lives in some way. Although people have warned me “the Bible doesn’t contain all the answers to every problem in your life,” it contains answers that pertain to everybody’s life.

If you align your life to God’s commands, perhaps that will have a bearing on the thing that worries you.

In all likelihood, we worry about things that center around us. But, in general we should be looking outward to God and to others. How do we serve God and our neighbor today?

So often this happens, where I read what is undoubtedly an answer to something when I open the Bible.

Another way this happens is at Mass. When something is troubling me I frequently get the answer in the readings or the homily.
