How would a Protestand and a Catholics answer to Christ's dying be different?

How would a Protestand and a Catholics answer to Christ’s dying be different? we both believe that Christ’s dying on the cross is the source of our salvation. i was not aware there was a difference of this opinion. could someone please inform me if my thinking is incorrect?

That is a tough one because there are differing views on this within the Protestant communities.

Many Protestants would share the Catholic view that Christ’s sacrifce was for all (and that we need only accept that sacrifice by faith in, and acceptance of Christ, as Lord and savior). Those in this category would then differ with Catholics by believing that this faith alone is sufficient for salvation, while Catholics believe the sacraments are necessary for salvation.

Some Protestants (Calvinists, for example) that Christ died only for the elect (those predestined for salvation).
