How would American Christians react if Jesus came back?

Have you ever imagined what it would be like if Jesus came back to the Earth? I’m not talking about his Second Coming, per say, but if he came back and lived on this earth again, specifically in America, and preached the same message and teachings he gave 2000 years ago. And not just thinking how the country would react to his words, but how would Christians living in post-modern America would react?

I imagine that, like everything else, it depends on the person

He’ll probably get rounded up as a vagrant or as a weird cult leader.

And rightly so, because if he came in any other manner than what he promised (the Eucharist and in glory on the last day), he would not be true to his word, and so would probably have it coming.

That’s why when Jesus comes again, it will be in his full glory and majesty, and every single person, both elect and reprobate, will bend the knee and glorify God, saying “Jesus Christ is Lord!” There will be no mistaking him, and everyone will know who he is and what he is And then everyone will face his judgement.

Probably like the bible says, many will presume they are ‘right’ with God and living as a true christian but God will tell them to depart from his company.

The more I think about and Ive said it before, to really be living the faith like we are supposed to, I doubt ones life, especially in the US and in our modern times, would be easy or comfortable…I think if our lives are like this, more than likely we are compromising or settling on our beliefs (myself included too), hey I like my easy life, not many problems, free to come and go, but I also realize I could likely be doing more and sort of accepting the way things are, and for the sake of my freedom, I go on like this, but I realize I will have to answer for my lack of action or lack of standing up for what I believe in when I stand before God.

👍 Couldn’t have said it better.

Interesting scenario. Let’s assume that Jesus came back but this time the world understood who he is. And let’s also assume Jesus continued to preach in parables and other ways that could be interpreted in different ways. You would have every politician and news person repurposing His words to their own ends. You would have Nancy Pelosi saying how Jesus said abortion is okay. Bernie Sanders would be using Jesus’ words to expand government social programs. Meanwhile, all the “big business” types would be showing how Jesus supports super PACs.

Frankly, I’m relieved that Jesus won’t come again in the same form he did 2000+ years ago. I wouldn’t be able to put up with the nonsense and the circus such an event would become. It would make the US presidential elections look tame by comparison.

First He’d have to get past Trump’s wall. Then He wouldn’t be able to go to the bathroom because He wouldn’t be wearing masculine clothes, just that long robe thing. Then the TrumPolice™ would catch and deport Him as an illegal immigrant from the Middle East (and we don’t want no more Ay-rab illegals here, no siree Bob).

😃

I imagine there would be a lot of skepticism as to whether or not he was “really” Jesus or just a pretender.

**I think that He would tell us to stand down our nuclear weapons: Unilateral Nuclear Disarmament.

And I think that He would get the same reaction that I often get when I suggest that course of action:

“This is a joke, right?”**

It would be the same as before, some would fail to recognize God among us.

Maybe He would have been born here? And what is wrong with our nation controlling it’s international borders whether with a wall or even our own military? We have a right to decide who can come into our nation to live.

A psychologist once wondered what would happen if three “schizophrenics,” each claiming to be Christ, got to interact with each, with each knowing that other two claimed to be Christ. And so he found three and arranged for them to meet and hear each others claims. Much to his surprise, they all got along just fine, with little pride.

Well, the bible does tell us in the end times, there will be many false prophets, some who show off great signs and wonders, so Im assuming the first person we see on the world scene that can do supernatural acts, like calling down fire from the sky or parting water, etc. most people will believe they are indeed who they claim to be.(Jesus returned).

Hmm, I heard a different version of that story:

Three patients with schizophrenia, each under the delusion that they were Christ, were placed in the same ward.

After they’d spoken to each other,
  • one of them maintained his belief,
  • the second accepted what this first patient said, and became his “disciple”,
  • the third said “you guys are both crazy” and relinquished his own delusion! 😃

Also, at the cost of sounding like a wet blanket: when Jesus comes back, He will come in glory to judge us all. I think most American Christians - heck, most of humanity - would be quaking in awe when that happens, including Trump and Obama (if it happened in their lifetimes.) 🙂

But I thought Obama was a Muslim and/or atheist, and so doesn’t believe in Jesus as the Son of God. Is this not true? Have I been deceived?
