How Would you Confess the Sin of Denying Conjugal Love to your Husband(or Wife)?

Does no one know or is no one purposefully answering? -_-; Though granted it was embarassing to ask…so maybe it’s embarassing to answer…

So, just curious married guys, when a priest is leading you through an examination of conscience, does he ask you if you are making your wife have an orgasm as much as you are?

Because that seems like an issue that’s coming up as potential rich material for confession. LOL

Re not telling your spouse what to go confess: “You are not the Holy Spirit.” LOL

Total self donation might be the very long day of cooking and cleaning and laundry and childrearing and perhaps a job outside the home too…she might be tired. I don’t think “withholding” only applies to extreme pregnancy and postpartum healing. LOL

Smart hubbies know that foreplay is all day and they help with the burdens. Sitting around watching TV and yelling honey get me a beer and put another log on the fire (like the song LOL) is probably not real aphrodisiac. LOL

Ok, I am not exactly clear on what you are asking yet, but since the original question was how would you confess this, well, one would just have to say what they did wrong, whether in this area or any other area of life in which one has offended God. Now, if you feel your spouse is doing this, well thats a different story.

In an examination of conscience published by the authority of the Bishop’s Comittee on the liturgy, National Conference of Bishops (USA) one of the questions is:

“Did I, without serious reason, deprive my spouse of the marital right? Did I claim my own rights in a way which showed no concern for my spouse’s state of mind or health?..”

If you thought your spouse was doing this and wasn’t aware it was not ok, maybe next time you go to confession you could invite your spouse to go too and give them an examination of conscience to prepare for confession, one that includes a question like this. I am not saying you should tell them they have to go to confession for this and point it out in the examination of conscience, you can just invite them to join you to go when you are going to go and offer them the material you will use to do your own examination of conscience.

Now Liz, Do you REALLY, Know husbands and marriages like this? My wife and I travel in a circle of friends of about 5-8 couples all Catholic, some like us have elementary school children – on up to Empty Nester’s. Plus we both have large extended families(1st, 2nd, 3rd cousins, etc.) probably 80 - 100 couples in family total. Non of them are described above. The reason I know is that all these Southern Belles are very, shall we say “vociferous” about things.😛 :p.

So, what part of the country, did you say there are ladies that will serve hubby’s, beer during a College Football game?😃

I am southern but I have none men and women in abusive relationships, so I can attest that some couple do have such issues as were described.

I’ve kept out of this because I only have my opinion and that might be wrong. My OPINION is that it can become a sin to refuse marital relations if the person has a continual lack of desire but refuses to seek any type of medical or psychological assistance.

I knew a case in which a woman married a man who drank heavily. After their marriage he began to drink even more heavily. He had difficulties substaining himself(if you understand what I mean:blush: ) The dr informed him that if he would give up alcohol then he would probably be able to again have relations with his wife. The man refused to do so. His wife, finally reached the understanding that he would never change and left him. He died of alcohol related problems a couple of years later. If anyone is curious, I know these intimate details because I am closely related to the above woman, I just don’t want to say how.😦

In this case, I would think that the man was sinning but he also had a host of other problems that made him not even care about seeking help.

I would think that anyone who refuses to seek help probably has many other problems that need to be taken into account beyond their sex drive.

Deb, you are correct their are, sad examples like this all to often. We do have a cousin who moved out West and is lost similar to this. Simply left his family one day earlier this year. Works odd jobs calls his children every few months. Really bad situation.
