Seldom do I feel unburdened/relieved, although I think that’s the most common with many people. Usually, I am grateful that we have access to such an awesome sacrament and grateful for a wonderful confessor and grateful for a merciful God who does not deal with us as we deserve.
I am with you. I feel unburdened and grateful, but not really happy or relieved. I struggle with an addiction and bounce in and out of Confession so much that I teased about moving my furniture in there. So I beat myself up really bad, because I fell again, wrestle, have to find a priest available to hear my Confession, which can be days, so by the time I come into Confession I’m usually frazzled, anxious, and freaked out, and if it’s not my regular Confessor, I feel embarrassed. I make myself go because we are supposed to and sometimes I feel better afterwards, but I usually worry about when I will fall down again and how long to hunt down a priest. It’s frustrating, but I am very grateful God has given us this sacrament to we can be forgiven.
