How're your knees holding up?

I want to share what I found out about knees in older persons.

Mine were examined and I have no cartiledge at all. Yet they work fine and cause no pain, and I even do sports.

However overuse kneeling on them while working and lifting too much weight can cause pain for some time. I found this out while working on a padded floor and kneeling for about an hour to an hour and a half. The pain didn’t start for 2-3 days afterwards. The reason being, that it took that much time for the inflamation to become severe. It took about six weeks for the pain to leave. And I did this same thing lifting furniture around a room, and again misstepping from a ladder. But again, pain went away after a month or more.

However there is no pain from kneeling for a half an hour on a padded kneeler. Go figure.

I only wish that someone had told me this before it happened because now I know my limitations about what I can and can’t do and why. I never would have dreamed that I had no cartiledge at all. I had always thought that a knee couldn’t function without it.
