Hubbys 30th Party Ideas

Hello, it’s been such a while since I posted last but wondering if you can pass on some ideas…

My hubby turns 30 this winter, we have a small group of close friends but a larger group of work colleges, all of which I would like to invite to a unique 30th party for him. I want to make this so special, he has been such a fabulous support and in the last 3 years we have had 3 high risk pregnancies and now have 3 beautiful babies. He deserves to have the focus on him and celebrating him for a change. He works so hard for our family and I really want to make him see how much he is loved.

I would like to have something family friendly as our friends have children as young as ours, something winter friendly and not overly costly. I would like to do something more than just provide a meal/food.

He is a construction, football loving kinda family man.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

When is it? Could you tie it into a Super Bowl party?

For kids I’m thinking of snowflake crafts to keep them entertained…

Does your husband like beer? Maybe some samples of winter beers? There are some good ones!

Surprise party at a restaurant. He thinks it’s something like a sweet 16 for a friend’s daughter – or an engagement – or something believable (sweet 16 is easy because there’s no real commitment!) You & he arrive…and all his work friends & family are there, and the party’s for him.

Wanna really make it a surprise? Mail a “save the date” card to yourself, a few months out, saving the date for the sweet 16. Let him see it and you comment on it. Then, 3 months beforehand, mail an invite to yourself, inviting you both to the sweet 16. Comment on it. Make sure he sees it. Remind him of it as the date approaches.

Won’t he be shocked!?! (I know I was, when my wonderful wife did this for me).

It’s kind of hard to say without knowing your guy and your budget.

My DH absolutely HATES surprises, and in fact made me promise I’d never throw him a surprise party. So I didn’t. I did throw him a big 50th party at our house, but it was a typical adult mix-n-mingle party since we don’t have kids.

I agree if it’s near Super Bowl time, find a way to combine into one party at your house.

If you want kid friendly, does you husband do something like bowl or play pool? Is there an indoor activity center you could hold the party at?

Could you hire a babysitter for all the kids (or a couple of babysitters, maybe some National Honor Society types looking for volunteer hours) and do something more adult?

What about an 80’s themed Super Bowl party? You can buy a DVD of the Super Bowl from the year he was born, and watch it together with friends and family. Find an old cookbook and serve snack foods popular in the 80’s. Dress in styles from the 80’s --and ladies can wear shoulder pad and helmet hair-styles that fit with both the football theme and 80’s theme!

Call the local Chinese joint of your choice and set up a buffet.
You don’t need a theme and guests don’t need a task.
Just have everyone come and make merry!
if you felt adventurous you could have a friend help you come up with hilarious fortune cookies. If you don’t bake, you can find paper folding ones on Pinterest that are easy to make and fun.
