My DH and I were talking about this the other night we we saw the report on the BBC.

My question is - what is their definition of “embryo”? They are using a cow egg with the DNA removed, and a “cell” from a human, but it never says it is a sperm cell. So - is this thing they are creating truly an embryo as we are familliar with the term, as something that developes into a breathing human being, or is it a mass of cells that are just replicating themselves and would never ever have the possibility of ever becoming a human life? Also, if this is the case, and the thing would never have the possibility of growing into a breathing human, then does it have a soul? If it IS a true embryo and could become a breathing human, then it would have a soul, and therefore many serious implications and issues associated with it.

Reproductive technology has been performing the Hamster Test for many many years where a hamster egg is used to see if a man’s sperm can penetrate the outer shell of the egg. The egg is never fertilized, but it can show if the man’s sperm is defective or not in this function and therefore causing infertility. Not the same technique - but another practice of combining human and animal cells.

This is not to say that I agree with the above techniques - only that I have A LOT of questions about the new one the BBC is reporting on.

Personally I think it’s all twisted - but I still have questions.
