to say it’s a hybrid is strong… They’re using an animal as an incubator to grow human cells, which I think is fine.

not sure about the ethics of this…

i’ll’ve needed to read the posts of other CAF members on this topic…

I find this instinctively revolting, but I’m not sure if it can be strictly condemned as intrinsically evil. The Church has said that introducing animal genes into humans would be wrong, but I’m not sure about introducing human genes or biological material into animals.

I don’t think human life is created or destroyed in this process…still unsettling, however…

What I worry is that this technology will lead to creation of actual human:animal embryos in the future…😱

No. That’s when they grew ears on rats. That’s fine. But this…this just seems satanic.

Let’s talk about the hybrid or whatever you want to call it, does it have human dignity?

All the article says is that they’re growing human cells within the animals. Where should the line be drawn? no idea.

Are they trying to create a viable living animal human hybrid? No. It’s an incubator.
Could this technology be perverted? Absolutely. But any revolutionary technoolgy can be.

But it’s still alive. We consider fetuses to be life regardless of viability. Why is this different?

Because human cells were introduced into a pig fetus. The fetus was not human to begin with, nor does the introduction of human cells make it human.

If we go by your reasoning, one of my best friends should be a pig-cow-human hybrid. Up until the introduction of artificial insulin, she used pig and cow insulin

Pigs are really similar to humans instead of organs. It feels wrong to just use pigs as a farm for human organs by incubating human cells within them, but I can see how some may think it a good thing.
