Human body is more sacred than the Koran

I just read an article about various Muslims authorities condemning the burning of the Koran in Florida. They are calling the UN to get involved since Koran burning threatens its integrity…

It is amazing how these people talk of religious tolerance, sacrilege, etc
If they are so concerned about religious tolerance and coexistence, why can’t they make sure all those churches are not burned, and all those Christians are not killed and kicked out of their countries.

How can we tell Muslims that the human body is more sacred than the Koran?
That if they are really concerned by religious tolerance, they have to prove it first back home, before trying to dictate it abroad?

Islam is a religion of contradictions and hypocrisy, I mean, what else can you say?
 
can’t burn their holy Quran in Florida, no matter what they do. imo.
It’s radical Muslims who burn churches and they’re in the minority. View radical Muslims believe that we Western countries try to undermine their religion and kind of try to rule the world. So when someone burns their holy Quran all it does is add fuel to their fire, and we Christians and peaceful Muslims suffer from it.
 
It’s important to remember not all Muslims have the same opinions on these things. Many are very reasonable, but because their system divorces faith from reason, they are more susceptible to this sort of thing.

How do we overcome? We engage Muslims in honest dialogue at every opportunity and force them to face facts. Remember, it is against Shar’ia to read another the holy book of another faith, or question Islam. They are brought up on a diet which is purely Islam and this is never questioned.

The fundamental question I see with Islam surrounds this idea of faith and reason, as isolated by Pope Benedict XVI in his famous lecture at Regensburg. Muslims believe something is right because God says it is right. Even if a thing is evil or wrong, (like blowing people up) it is OK because God says it is. Now of course, who interprets what God says is up to the Imams, so some are more moderate than others. However this is very different to Christian belief which says that we can know by our reason, whether something is good or bad, and only good things come from God.

The Quran wasn’t burned in Florida.

Many copies of the Bible were burned in Iran some months ago. Interesting isnt it, how the double standard works. Nobody cared when Bibles were burned, but the whole American and European puppet-show of politicians were up in arms trying to persuade that pastor in Florida from burning Qurans.

Why? Because:
Quran burning = Violent mobs all over the middle east, flag burnings and violence.
Bible burning = nice little Christians who don’t say anything, and politicians who, suddenly dont care about “tolerance”…
 
The Koran was not burned on 3/11 in Florida, but it was burned recently in Florida. That’s why they gave that indignation.

Yes, we need to help them see facts. But how. Saying that we understand where it comes from is enough. Burning the Koran is a negative action. What kind of positive action can we do…and efficiently?

God was heard from a burning bush, maybe it could be seen as backhanded compliment!!

We can’t.

Not all of them are concerned with religious tolerance. And most of them do not consider the human body at all sacred. Recall what is done to the human bodies who live where Islamization holds sway.

What we can do is pray that our LORD will give HIS light to them.

The human body IS more sacred than a physical book. A Koran is just printed pieces of paper. Physical representations of a religious text. If people burn them, so what? No one should die for it. Or they should be humble and express their beliefs in secret.

That’s partially to do with the media, but also to do with Christians themselves IMO. If such a Bible-burning is done, few Christians will actively speak up, much less actually take to the streets and protest/burn effigies/kill anyone.

The few who do are condemned, even by other Christians, as being ‘loonies’ or ‘fanatics’.
 
Okay Jharek, since you mentioned effigies and since you live in the UK, perhaps you can better explain to me (a Yank) about this book I read that mentioned pope-burning in Lewes:

Do we just chalk it up to history and local tradition? Kind of like sports-team rivalry (although the hooligan thing is another UK thing I don’t totally get either)?
 
Yes. As we found out recently at a Dodgers baseball game here in Los Angeles just last week. A Giants (San Francisco) fan was assaulted after the game and is now in the hospital in a coma.

My impression from the book was that it was really more of what we might call a “frat party”. Not a party I would attend, mind you, but not a real lynch mob.
 
We do discuss religion in public in America, and usually do it nicely (the rules are that you can express your support for your own religion, and NOT say anything bad about anyone else’s).

We don’t like to discuss race at all, however. that is like passing gas in an elevator. Everyone heads for the exit.

Being from Vancouver, have you attended the Theology of the Body classes of the Archdiocese? You sure sound someone like who has 😉

I guess we have to understand Islamic theology and why the Koran is so sacred to them.
