T.A.Stobie:
What do you think of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? You can see at online at URL: un.org/Overview/rights.html .
In article 3… does it include unborn children?

In article 5 will protect unborn children from abortionists?

In article 16 (1) does not clearly define that marriage should be only between a man and a woman. Also this article does not clearly stand on monogamy or polygamy.

In article 16 (3) is good definition but it needs to define what is a family?

Will article 26 (3) secure parents’ rights to provide homeschooling to their children?

Can countries and states withdraw their support on Universal Declaration of Human Rights IF U.N. decides to revise its declaration to appease some abortion rights groups and the like?

Good questions, Mike.

I find that the United States (where I live) violates in some way articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 16(3), 18, 20(2), 23(4), 25(1), 26(1), 26(2), & 26(3).

It is a good list but would benefit from strong definitions in it to prevent liberals from redefining the language to change the meaning of laws or to promote confusion in communications.

Article 8.
Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.

If the rights are granted by the declaration or law, then they can be taken away. Rigthts are naturally existing/God granted.

Article 22.
Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and resources of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personality.
  • I’m not sure I even understand this, but I believe it’s saying that we are all entitled to whatever we need to develop our personalities. Does this go for megalomaniacs, , pathological criminals, etc?*
Article 23.
(1) Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.
Cool. I want to be the beer taster at Yeungling, and I want to make $100K. Now which UN body is supposed to be securing this for me?

Article 24.
Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.
I think 4 hours a week is reasonable

etc etc
