Husband has a mistress and abandoned his family

So my husband who is also catholic walked out on our son and i 4 years ago and never returned. He has a korean mistress now ever since he left for SK for military in 2015 and he just returned to the united states a few months ago. His family im not all for sure if they practice catholic still but his oldest sister is now friends with the korean mistress he met while overseas which i just found out and just doing a lot of poor choices. His parents even helped cover it up. Then finding out from friends hes told he has no faith in God anymore or the catholic church and lies to his parents that he still does but doesn’t.

How do i deal with this, as i made a vow and divorce was never on my agenda as i married in-front of God. My husband now wants one and never ended up filing since he left us. Our son hasn’t seen his father since he was born and we’ve been married for almost 7 years. I am in need of huge prayers and not sure what else i can do. I dont want any hate or vengeance , i am trying to forgive. It is hard and not easy but i continue to do daily prayer.

Not sure if i should go talk to my church. I haven’t told anyone except my close family like as in parents and close friends know. Otherwise nobody else knows. It seems like this kind of stuff is happening more and more now a days in 2020. Marriage is beautiful with the Lord in it. Divorces makes me very sad.

Hi iowagirl,

Why not go pay a visit to your priest for counsel and advice on how to proceed.

Also, as painful as it is, maybe consider getting yourself a lawyer because it sounds like your husband is intent on divorce even if you aren’t.

Praying for you in this difficult time and for the Lord to give you strength and guidance with what lies ahead.

Praying for you and your family. I’m so sorry this has happened to you and your son. Rest assured God still loves you and is taking care of you in this difficult time. The best thing you could do is to turn to Him in prayer for His comfort. For He cares for you. You are His beloved.

You don’t need our permission to pursue (or defend against) a divorce and/or a Decree of Nulity. You need to give permission to yourself.
