I was thinking of you, your family and your faith journey today and realized I had not checked Catholic Answers in weeks. Hope you had an amazing Easter!
It’s been a great Easter, and this has been an amazing Lent.
My journey back to Catholicism literally started with an off-the-cuff decision to go to the Ash Wednesday service.
I’ve been to the Catholic church many times now, the Father knows me by sight and name, asks me about how I’m doing etc.
My husband has been to a Mass with me - I took my munchkin for the first time alone to Mass. And was blown away at how wonderful and helpful the congregation was!
I learned where the quiet room is, and it’s awesome!
It’s basically a sound proof room with a glass wall that faces the sanctuary - there’s a PA system, so I don’t miss a thing! The room has a couch and plenty of running around room.

(Sorry about the size) Here’s a photo of where I’m sitting on the couch, looking in at the sanctuary.
I had one other gentleman in the room, and he was very sweet to my little one and I, and kept calling her “an angel!”
When I went up to receive communion, I had no issues carrying her in my arms, the Father gave me the host (on the tongue), and blessed my daughter.
It was just so wonderful!
Someone even gave me their spot in line waiting for the host, (as it was verrrry long due to the Easter service) so I wouldn’t need to wait as long with my daughter in my arms.
I had such a wonderful service, and had also gone to the Maundy Thursday service, Good Friday I did the “Walk of the Cross” with my Hubby and daughter, around our town, Saturday I went to the Vigil, and of course, Easter service.
It was such a time of encouragement and spiritual growth!
I also
finally watched the movie, “The Passion” on Good Friday.
It broke my heart, as I expected it would - I waited until the baby was in bed, and Hubby was out, so I could have a good 'ol cry by myself and not hold back.
I was doing ‘ok’ until Mary watched Jesus fall, and her memories took her back to Jesus falling as a child, and her rushing to comfort Him. Ack! I tear up just thinking about it!!
Lol!
It really gave me a better appreciation and sorrow for Christ’s crucifixion and death, and the feeling of great joy knowing that He rose again!
I’ve been praying the Divine Mercy Novena and falling asleep to podcasts from the Catholic App “Discerning Hearts”.
My Mum keeps asking me if I’m “becoming Catholic” and I keep answering that: “I don’t know.”
My SIL asked me more or less the same question, knowing that my husband doesn’t really feel the desire to become Catholic. I answered:
“He’s not much into ANY church right now - he’s having trouble with his faith, and I can’t rely on him to dictate my faith to me. He’s not leading us anywhere, so I’m going to go where I’m fed and learning, and right now - that’s the Catholic church.”
While I don’t think she really understood, she respected my decision, and confided that she really misses her Anglican liturgical-style church.
Wow! I really went on there!!
Like I said, it’s been a hectic (but amazing) few weeks!
