Then again, isn’t the definition of immateriality, to be above nature, or super natural?
Husserl talks about a transcendental ego that is outside the world. Wittgenstein says that our awareness is on the boundary of the world. And Sartre calls consciousness a “no-thing-ness” (not a material thing in the world).

Further back in philosophical history is Descartes’ res cogitans (an “unextended”, i.e., immaterial, thing).

In a sense, you’re right about immateriality as being above, or super, or, simply, outside nature (at least nature as it is understood in modern science).

But can we conclude, based only on philosophical premises, that this immateriality makes it possible for us, in the absence of our bodies, to continue on after death as the singular persons who we are right now?
