We (my husband, myself, & our 10 year old) just watched the movie “I am David”. What a beautiful movie about trust, hope, and seeing the good amidst the horrors of the world. It’s the kind of movie you wish Hollywood would make more often.
It has same difficult concepts and violence for younger children. However, there are some excellent lessons for the older child. The young boy in the movie learns through an older mentor that life is worth living and that we should survive at all costs. If we are alive we can make a change; if we are dead we cannot. He also learns that, even though there are bad people in the world, most people are good. The concept of sacrificial love is also very powerful.
Any comments? I’d love to hear what others thought of this movie.
