I wasn’t sure where to put this. I am on week 2 of 6 of a really long business trip. I’ve done these trips a number a times, but the homesickness never seems to stay away. Some days are worse than others, and I guess today is just one of those days.

I am traveling with my dog, which has been nice to have a little company, but being so far away from friends and family for so long really has me down. My training takes up 8 hours of my day, but it gets kind of difficult filling the rest of my time with entertaining tasks. The parish I have been going to around here seems like a great parish, and I’ve enjoyed the masses quite a bit, but I am still missing my home parish. I’ve been trying to pray more to find some peace of mind, but I’m still feeling “emptier than normal.”

I’m not really looking for advice, though, any advice would be greatly welcome. I just needed a little venting to get some of this stuff off of my mind and out in the open.

Ite in pace,
Joshua C.

Hi Joshua, I hope the time begins to pass quickly, and that you can relax enough in peace to refresh when your daily hours of training are over.
Hopefully you are able to contact friends and family during these times.
Wishing you the best,
Trishie

I totally understand about homesickness. When I married my husband last year I moved to where he is stationed. If that wasn’t hard enough, leaving everthing I have ever knew, after only 7 months married, he was deployed. I have been alone for months and I become homesick a lot. I will keep you in my prayers.

That was a very reason I didn’t work out in the Navy lol

Thank you for the prayers. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers, as well.

Just a thought, maybe going to the Vatican web site at www.vatican.va and do some reading on there. Sometimes I get lost on that site for hours. It sure will make the time go by fast. I am sure your dog will get your attention when it wants fed or to go out, mine never seems to have trouble reminding me of meal times, etc…

Watch a scary movie, it’ll keep you company for days 😛
Just kidding. Hang in there, buddy. 🙂

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, and advice.

Today was a lot better than this past weekend. I guess there were some stressful point, but it definitely kept me from sitting in boredom.
