I am so overwhelmed--can you help?

I am so worried just about everything. My Cross is so heavy now. I listened to the words at mass about carrying your cross but I don’t know howmuch more I can handle. I’ve got 25 years of experience and can’t find a job; my husband has retired; my 83 year old mother lives with us and I just feel like God is telling me to switch vocations (I am a paralegal) and go back to what I loved doing (hospice volunteering-nopay)…How can I do this and make it work. Every day I take care of all the phone calls (insurance problems due to husbands serious hospitalization), losing a house in Tennessee to foreclosure and I just am so downright devastated right now. My plate is pretty full. I was losing faith in just about everything but today’s Word was just what I needed. Now (at 1:30 am) I can’t sleep and just can’t seem to make things work.

Other than feeling overwhelmed, I’m not sure what your cross is exactly. If it is financial, then I don’t see how doing volunteer work would help. It seems that you need a job and most of all some peace and a sense that there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

First of all, the Lord has given you a share in His passion. He knows well what it is to feel overwhelmed. He is right there with you and is giving you the opportunity to offer this pain to Him as an expression of your love and gratitude for all He endured on your behalf on Good Friday so many years ago. He alone is the peace you seek.

Secondly, I am asking all who read this to offer a prayer on your behalf. You will be able to get an idea of the number by checking back here to see how many people have read this. I will off Mass for you on Easter Sunday and you will be in my daily prayers before the Blessed Sacrament. The Lord has not forgotten you. Trust Him and His love for you. When you feel yourself doubting, just look at the crucifix and know that you are loved beyond your ability to fully conprehend.
