Hello all. I could use your opinions and some reassurance. This morning I was reaching for some papers on a shelf and knocked over my crucifix and the head of Jesus broke off. I felt really bad and things have been going bad all day like I’m cursed. My boyfriend has glued my crucifix back together and I also ordered a similar new one from amazon. What else can I do.

It may be disturbing, but its not really a problem. You have my condolences.

although not really required; however, it may ease your mind to have it re-blessed… explain what happened to the item to your Deacon or the Priest.

other than that, it was an accident, let this pass by you, the devil likes to play upon the emotions.

peace be with you

Same thing happened to the processional cross of my school’s chaplaincy. The entire body except the hands came off of the cross. Our chaplain said to dispose of it properly with him present. So the next week he was there with us as we had a pit of fire prepared. He had on him a stole and he threw in the broken wooden then-crucifix. and he buried the ashes in a pit near the sacrarium (The sink where religious and/or blessed “waste” are drained).

My point?
Ask your parish priest or any priest for that matter. I learned that different priests have different approaches,

In less than a month both the processional cross and the crucifix on the altar were broken beyond repair. I’m a klutz, but fortunately for me, I wasn’t involved in the breakage. Those who were felt really bad about it.

And you should have seen what the weather did to my St. Francis statue! It kept losing parts and I kept trying to prop it up. I gave up when his face fell off. 😦

Thank you for your replies I feel much better now. I was so worried I was cursed when silly bad things kept happening today.
