I can't believe it! :)

Guys,

Last night I went to RCIA and we had to introduce ourselves to these two new people that are going to join. When it came my turn, I told them about myself, etc. and then I mentioned that “unfortunetely, I wont be able to be recieved into the Church until next Easter Vigil…” something like that. My RCIA director quickly stopped me and said something like that no, that’s not it; that since I’m already a candidate, I wont have to wait until next year!!! :eek: Wow!!! She said something like I can’t join quite yet until I get “all things together” meaning I still need to know more about the faith, etc. then I can join! This cute old lady sitting next to me said something like unless you want to wait and enjoy more of the fun at Easter Vigil! 😃 Oh my! My jaw dropped to the ground! I couldn’t believe it! I talked to the RCIA director after the session and asked if she was serious and yes! I asked her would I do this individually and she said that the parish would prefer not to but if the other two new people (they are candidates too! Whew!) are ready then we all three would make our statement of faith (Nicene Creed)!

This made my night!😃

You see, since I was in the Inquiry session, I thought I had to go through the entire thing of RCIA and thought, great, that’s gonna take a year.

After talking to her last night about it, she told me she thought it would be good for me to have me be in the Inquiry group (we split up into our groups!) first to understand a little more.

This is too good to be true!!! 👍

My heart is SO full for you right now - so are my eyes - they are happy tears for you! I remember when I was able to come back into communion with the Church - the first Mass I attened when I was able to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion - I cried through the entire Mass!!!
I am so unbelieveably happy for you!!!
Keep learning, there are so many wonderful and mysterious things to learn about our faith - I’m still learning after all these years!!

Congratulations Paris!
This is great news! You are in the same position as my beloved wife who also will be received into full communion at that time as well. We just finished the Rites of Sending and Election last weekend and the Cathedral was PACKED! Sometimes we don’t get all the info that we need to really now what’s going on. Like, did you know that although you can’t recieve the Eucharist until Easter, you can go up with you arms crossed on your chest and receive a special Eucharistic blessing every time you attend Mass. I didn’t even think about it until our RCIA director asked why my wife didn’t come up at communion time with me…(DUH…me). Just go up arms crossed and bow your head when it’s your turn. Cool huh?

I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.

This is something that can be done any time we cannot receive sacramentally, and there is nothing wrong with doing it often even when we can’t attend Mass.

My other favorite thing is the Anima Christi after recieving or making a spiritual communion: The indulgences for these two are really great and I urge to you research that and take full advantage of them since we all need all the graces we can get dontcha think?

:clapping: Great news, Paris! But don’t jump in until you’re ready. There’s another thread on these forums with the title “What do Catholics do after first kneeling.” – the OP on that thread was received into the Church WAAAYYY too soon. So he’s quibbling about doctrine and practice in a way that is completely unnecessary. There’s a lot to be said for taking your time.

But yes, you can be received at any time, not just at the Vigil. Might be nice to do it the first Sunday of Advent? Or how about the Feast of the Transfiguration? Or the Feast of the Presentation? Lots of great days to do this.

It looks there will be quite a few of us from Catholic Answers being received into the church on Easter Vigil.

Just think about it… at sundown on Holy Saturday how many new Catholics will there be! Wow, this will truly be a special time. I’ve never been so excited for Easter in my whole life!

Paris, You said a woman told you that you could skip RCIA and go ahead and be a Roman Catholic , is that correct?

Thats not the way it is here. Some laywoman would not make a decision that you can take communion. That is the responsibility of a Priest. That was surprising to read.

Congratulations Paris!

Being Catholic is great and the more we learn the greater it becomes. I have always been Catholic but didn’t always appreciate the faith. The more I learn the more I am greatful to the Lord for His gift of the Church.

My husband was United but after 15 years of marriage, many Rosaries and the influence of a wonderful priest he was called to join the Catholic Church. I expressed my concern to our priest about my husband attending the RCIA in our area. I felt that I could teach him a more orthodox version of our faith. The priest said that I could instruct my husband and he would talk with him and make sure he knew the essentials. I was happy and my husband was happy. He learned the essentials and since he was already baptised in a valid manner then all he had to do before entering the Church was to recite an act of faith before the congregation which he proudly did. He has been faithful and continues to learn and strives to be a good Catholic and accepts the Church teachings.

He is at an elementary stage in his faith life but I see in him more respect for the Church than I see in many life-long Catholics. Now he is preparing for Confirmation.

One doesn’t need to know everything about the faith to become Catholic. One just has to have a desire to continue to grow in the faith.

I love this prayer. I say it every time I receive the Eucharist.
