I can’t stand up for life when my family tells me to take my pro-life mesages off Facebook, like I had to do last week when I was told to stop posting on Facebook about Obama’s demand that Catholics finance abortions! They tell me that most of the teen pregnancies are by their own fathers or uncles. As an autistic person myself, I feel that they’ve been brainwashed by the secular media about this issue. What do I do? I don’t want to have to back down on my pro-life beliefs, but they want me to comrpomise. I can’t do that! Please help me.

Are you a minor or dependent on your parents? If so, you need to abide by their rules regarding your internet usage.

Prayer is far more powerful than facebook, you can pray for LIFE all day long.

I’m 50 years old and an autistic person. I believe that if Obama’s new healthcare mandate goes into effect, lives like my own will be in danger.

Still, prayer is more powerful that facebook! No one can keep you from praying.

If you are a minor, you must abide by their rules. If, however, you are of age and independent and live on your own, you can post whatever you like (within Facebook’s guidelines, of course). Have you considered changing your privacy settings so only people see certain things?

How?

I’m asking respectfully and seriously. Specifically, how will Obama’s healthcare mandate put your life in danger?

Actually for abortion statistics less than .1% of abortions or done for reasons of rape or incest. That is both of those combined. It is funny how everyone points to those when they are such minor issues in the field of abortion.

You don’t have to stop posting about these issues on facebook. As long as you abide by facebook’s rules, I don’t see why you should have to stop. Are some of your family members your guardians? If not, then you can do whatever you like. You are an adult.

One thing you might consider doing is making a new page for these family members and migrating everyone over to that page. Then you can post your pro-life messages on your regular page, for friends and sympathetic family members. You can also control who sees each message, Facebook started that a few months ago. Click on the arrow next to the message and pick the option that works for you.

I have 2 pages, one using my full name with my middle name included, and that one is non-political (I have a lot of liberals on my dad’s side - not Catholics). Then my other page is very political and extremely pro-life. Right now I am not posting anything other than updates from 40 Days for Life.

There are, unfortunately, people in this world who would see it mandatory to abort a baby that has a disability such as autism. Currently, I don’t believe there is any way to tell if a baby has autism or not, until after they are born and begin to socialize. However, there are disorders that can be tested and there are people even now who work very hard to make sure that those babies that have genetic disorders or birth defects never see the light of day. I’m assuming this is what the OP is referring to.

That’s not really what he said though, but that still doesn’t address the question. My question was about how Obama’s healthcare mandate would specifically have an effect on that. Where in the healthcare reform bill does that get addressed?

Mine too, I have mild autistic tendencies along with my youngest daughter and fear that this will "weed out the ‘inferior from the superior’ folks, never mind that the vast majority of technical advances from from autistic folks like thomas edison and albert einstein, not to mention other folks like al gore and thomas jefferson who was thought to have high-functioning autis:eek:m.

I can only guess as to what the OP’s specific concerns are. However, some people are concerned that there is language in the bill that could require hospitals and doctors to provide abortions or face being shut down. If that is the case, there wouldn’t be any anti-abortion facilities to compete, and women who are pregnant would be forced to get pre-natal care at a hospital that is far more likely to pressure her to abort a baby that might be born disabled.

As of yet I don’t think there is. However, it is theorised that autism can be p(name removed by moderator)ointed by tracing extra chromosomes. I have Asperger’s syndrome, as well as a undetermined number of duplicated chromosomes. Wanted to see if they gave me a genetic advantage. Like laser eye beams. Turns out no. Anyway, there is a common theme among autistics with extra chromosomes and in the future they might p(name removed by moderator)oint that and use it for prenatal diagnoses, or something.

As far as a fear of being post-natally aborted with Obamacare, the OP might be referring to historical tendencies of tyrannical regimes of terminating those that disagreed with the assumed staus quo. All dictatorships begin somewhere, the best of them begin with given up freedoms. Did Hitler, yes Hitler, begin by exterminating Jews, intellectuals and those with syndromes up to and including autism? Or did he work the Reich up to snuff? It sounds sensationalist, but it isn’t entirely unfair to consider.
