I don’t know if I have sinned

So I was digging a whole in my backyard. I knew that there was a buried skunk somewhere in my backyard, but was unsure where. I thought that the place I was digging was where the skunk was, and thought that I was committing mortal sin (Kind of), but I kept digging. (I did not want to dig up the skunk). Afterwards, I found out that the place where I was digging was not where the skunk was. Have I sinned? If yes, was it venile or mortal?

I thought that I heard that if you dig up a human it is a sin/ mortal sin. I thought it might also be a sin/ mortal sin to dig up an animal. Thank-you so much!
