Hi all,
Sometimes I find it very uncomfortable to talk to some people. It’s not that I hate them but usually the mindset and topics of interest are different. So usually I made up excuse to “run away”. I don’t know how God thinks about my actions. Should I stay back instead to suffer those kinds of conversations?

On the scale of “do unto others”, I’d say that most people you meet would rather you not fake an interest in their social interests. If someone really needs you, that is something else, but I doubt that many people depend that totally on you in order to keep from being marginalized from human contact.

Certainly if their conversation is what the letter to the Ephesians refers to as “obscenity or silly or suggestive talk, which is out of place” or if their talk would happen to tempt you to think like an “immoral or impure or greedy person,” you need no excuses at all to avoid it. You do not need to judge others guilty in order to judge what is bad or simply unprofitable for you.

I have the same problem with some people. Sounds like you have nothing in common with their topics of conversation and some may make you uncomfortable with certain things they say? I am 52 and I have a childhood friend who lives in another state. When we talk on the phone, he talks as if he were 20 years old. Dude this and dude that! Drives me crazy!! When I am confronted with this, I simply change the topic of conversation or insist that I do not wish to talk about certain topics or hear certain language that offends me. Some people are just impossible and you must avoid them like my old childhood friend. Good luck and God Bless You Jeff1661
