I guess I’m what you would call a potential Catholic. I’ve been recently attending Mass with my wife and children but am being increasingly persuaded that the Catholic Church is deeply flawed.
Certainly there is a great gap between the fallible men who are partakers of His grace, and the divine purity of His Holy Bride. Men are always in need of reform.
Juxtapose the recent media coverage of pediphile priests
Satan knows that, if he can strike the shepherds, the flock will be scattered. Are you going to let him win?
with the Church’s recent decision to kick-out children of gay parents from Catholic schools and what do you get? A Church that appears morally confused. (at best).
Actually, this decision seems to clear up quite a bit of confusion.
I want to believe the Catholic Church is God’s Church, is the universal Church. I really do. But why should I? Then I hear a poll on Catholic Radio that shows Catholics among the worst at knowing the reason for the season of Easter. Ouch. Protestants were among the best. Big surprise.
Judging the purity of the Church founded by Christ by looking at her worst representatives is a mistake. Would you discount the Teachings of Jesus because Judas did not follow them?
How can I convert to Catholicism among these scandles? How could I possibly truhfully say that I believe all the Catholic Church teaches is from God? I can’t. I just can’t.
Well, you could try separating the sins of men from the Teachings, to start. Your decision should be made upon what is true, not influenced by those who have departed from the truth.

You are suffering the wound that we all are, whenenver one member of the Body sins, all are wounded.

Hello freerf,
Worse than the scandals is the unbiblical teaching of the Roman Church.

There are numerous problems with its core doctrine, transubstantion. We just can’t seem to get an an answer as to why we need to perpetuate Jesus’ final sacrifice at mass.

Hello freerf,

Worse than the scandals is the unbiblical teaching of the Roman Church. There are numerous problems with its core doctrine, transubstantion. We just can’t seem to get an an answer as to why we need to perpetuate Jesus’ final sacrifice at mass. And, there is no justification for the papacy.

Go find a good Bible church!

John
if you dont mind, can you tell me what is a Bible church? who determined that is good?

which came first, the Teachings or the Bible?

Hey,

Thanks for all your answers. I really appreciate it. . . And don’t worry about John’s comments regarding the papacy and Jesus’ continued crucifiction.

I’ve been going to a nondenominational “bible teaching” church for years so am quite familiar with the anti-catholic rhetoric. John, I’m sure you have a good heart and believe you are saving all sorts of people from the Catholic Church, but I’ll tell you what I tell my other brothers - I feel more of a closeness to God via the Catholic Church than I’ve ever felt at Calvary Chapel (10 years!). I’ve been challenged in more ways spiritually over the past few months than i have in the 10 years prior. and, i believe through prayer that this is where God would have me. I’ll mention your objections to God, however, in my prayers tonight. (i usually get a few good laughs from that one.)
