I am really excited! I was really expecting to have to wait until the end of my deployment to get back into RCIA, but I found a class on Sunday mornings at the main chapel of the base I’m on.

This is going to be a great deployment!

How awesome is that. It just goes to show that God is everywhere and that He knows that you need this at this time in your life. Good luck with it and God Bless you for serving your country. I have a son who is serving in Iraq right now. He is in Balad with the hospital. I will add you to my prayer list that you will return safely when your tour is up

James, my three girls and I have added you to our prayer intentions! Please be safe. I hope you have a wonderful RCIA experience! My husband will be baptized and receive communion and confirmation this Easter vigil, so this year is extra special to us! Perhaps you will have the oppurtunity to keep CAF updated- I know we would love to follow your story! God bless you!

James, I’m so excited that you are so excited about this! May God hold you close and bless you! May Mother Mary protect you!

I can’t think of a tougher environment, both local and community, to take this challenge.

You have an opportunity to make your deployment very positive.

Make this time count. Turn a negative into a positive.

Be safe.

James, I am so happy that you found RCIA on your post. I am a Chaplain Assistant also in Iraq, and we have had RCIA on our post throughout my time here. We are blessed that our one priest who recently redeployed was replaced with 2 priests and RCIA will continue! I’ve found that a lot of Catholics who are already fully received into the Church are using RCIA classes as a way to get back in touch and learn more about the faith they profess. Its truly a beautiful thing to have this ministry in the midst of the war-torn desert!

A Chaplain visits our company. In a tired voice, he prays for strength of our arms and for the souls of the men who are to die. We do not consider his denomination. Helmets come off. Catholics, Jews, and Protestants bow their heads and finger their weapons. It is front-line religion: God and the Garand. ~Audie Murphy, To Hell and Back

Very nice getting your feet wet in the desert of iraq.👍👍
My prayers go with you, be safe over there. God bless you and all of our troops.

Say, any chance you have a Matt G in your class? He’s now in RCIA over there, too. His mom is a parishioner of our Church.
