I go to church every sunday but even when im there i dont really understand why im there. is that bad?
Hi marki3083,
I see that you are brand new member. I myself am a fairly new member as well. So, I’d like to welcome you to this Forum. Now on to your question, but first, if you don’t mind me asking, what is your age range? The reason I ask is because I’m a parish volunteer catechist for Youth Ministry(Life Teen) & Confirmation.
I’m glad to see that you are attending church every Sunday that in itself is a very good thing. I mean you could go and do other things on Sunday, but you chose to stay one hour with Jesus, unlike the Apostles at the Garden of Gethesemane.I too go every Sunday and I too at times don’t understand why I’m
there. Its not really a bad thing, but neither is it a good thing. It is difficult sometimes to focus on the Mass, especially when there are things and events that happen in our lives that carry over into our time with Jesus. That’s human nature. Maybe what we can do is to try and give our troubles to Him.
If it’s a question of knowing more about how the Mass works there are many good resources to help you. Talk to your priest. Maybe what you could do is to take a part of the Mass every Sunday break it down and analyze it for the week. That is something I’ve wanted to do myself, but haven’t gotten around to do it. Hopefully soon I’ll do it too.
I apologize I’m assuming you’re Catholic. Since you didn’t state what your religion is and I didn’t ask. Because I was talking about the Mass.
