I am so excited…at Easter Vigil the music director chose me to sing the Litany of the Saints. As I stood there, ready to begin singing, I prayed, “Jesus, be in me and through me so that Your congregation is blessed. Not my talent, but Your Presence.”
Well, I didn’t make a single mistake so my prayer worked.
What a blessing to be able to sing that beautiful piece! I am still excited!🙂

Would you be offended if I applauded? If not, then I do. If so then I will just say - thanks!

Congratulations, I am sure you sounded beautiful. What an honour 🙂

In Latin?

It is soo much easier to sing in latin and it is aboslutely BTFUL in latin.

No, I sang it in English…we do very little Latin at our NO parish. But it was still very fulfilling!

Two women shared the Litany in our parish. Very impressive to handle it on your own!

I love the Litany of the Saints, so beautiful! I’m glad you got
to sing it!🙂

I did it at our parish, too, but that’s not saying much because there are only five people to pick from and only two of us have solo voices. I still enjoyed it though. Congrats. I’m sure you were outstanding!👍

Oh don’t get me wrong it is awesome in English too. Very awesome…In fact the Latin and english are so similar that some might not even catch the difference. Ora Pro Nobis (pray for us) sounds almost exactly the same.

I belong to a NO parish but we do the sanctus, Agnus Dei in lating and the kyrie (greek)…Everything else is vernacular.

YAY FOR YOU AND CONGRATUALTIONS!
(And thanks to St. Cecelia, methinks.)

On Holy Saturday I sang the Exultet in English, but the next morning, I sang the Victimae paschali laudes in Latin.

Funny how some parishes seem to regard the Exultet and the litany with dread but they are the two things at the Vigil that my parish absolutely love singing. The Exultet is a memorable moment - standing by the Pascal candle and singing into a sea of candles in the darkness. The sense of single-mindedness in the litany is also wonderful when the whole kneeling congregation sings its collective head off.

Congrats, RWM!
