My wife and I teach NFP and have been approached by a student looking for resources from which to learn the mechanics of the marital act. This student is preparing for marriage and has not had any experience or instruction, avoided pornography (praise the Lord) and wants to learn more about the basics. They are a passionate Catholic and want to avoid the near temptation to sin but are longing for knowledge. My advice is to “be not afraid” as you and your wife will be able to learn together as you embark on the great journey of your marriage. I do not think that advice is quite enough for them however, I think printed material may bring them more comfort. I have suggested the following resources:
Catholic Answers, The Chastity Project, The Theology of the body Institute, The Good News about Sex and Marriage.
Finally I recently found “Holy Sex” by Greg Popcak, however I have not yet read this.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

You mean the birds and the bees? I can’t say that I’m aware of a strictly Catholic resource on it.

Yes, it seems pretty specifically the mechanics of the birds and the bees. I am willing to discuss the topic myself however I have not gauged their comfort level with that approach yet. Their parents attempted to explain that the act is good however the Student still feels some guilt in their curiosity. There is still some deep seeded feeling that there is something bad about sex.

Their curiosity, of course, is not morally wrong. It’s something that someone anticipating marriage needs to know.

A book or video isn’t likely to help. This is something that requires a dialogue, and a priest seems the most appropriate individual to have that dialogue with.
