I met a person on this forum whom I developed a very caring friendship and in a sence has become like a sister to me and a friend to my daughter.

Last weekend, I made an joke which she found offensive. Was the joke offensive? Yeah, it had a double meaning and I know I should not be using jokes like that. What was meant at humor made her upset. I understand why she is up set at me and rightfully so. I have apologized but don’t think words are enough because I should have known better.
How I reconcile with her and try to salvage our friendship?

Thanks for your advice.

You have taken the first step. Since your “friend” is only on this forum, what else can you do? You can send a personal message.

Everybody makes mistakes. Remind this person that you are not perfect and that Christians should forgive each other. A true friend will. And if not, can I be your new best friend??😃

forward the above to the friend… good friends forgive… i feel your friend will be ready to. 👍

If you have apogized and asked for forgiveness then she should accept that as a real Christian…On the otherhand, it is said
“behind every jest is an element of truth” and maybe you hit a sore spot that she may be dealing w/ or not, … I’ve been there many times…hurt because of my pride.
Give her some time and I’ll pray that she’ll look beyond,
God Bless, Annunciata:)

Yeah, I hurt someone too whom I met on these forums. For a while I thought we would become friends, but then I said some things which I thought were funny, but they didn’t come across that way, and she then stopped talking with me, disgusted with what I had said. I know that I’m far from perfect, that I’m often sinful and don’t have exactly the best thoughts, that I’m inexperienced in many aspects of life; but I still love her as a friend, have written her name down, and will pray for her with the list of all my other friends until I die.

If your friend can’t reconcile with you even after you ask forgiveness, realize that you two are incompatible as friends, but still continue to love the person. That’s the best advice I can give.
